Family Solicitor

Bendles LLP is a high street firm with offices in Cumbria located within easy reach of the Lake District and Scotland. We are seeking a dynamic and committed Family Solicitor to join a close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven solicitor to take a leading role in the family department.

The Role

This opportunity is for a solicitor with expertise covering all aspects of Family Law, specifically divorce, financial and high net worth matters.  Being part of the Law Society Family Law Accreditation scheme would be an advantage as would being an accredited Specialist member of Resolution with specialism in complex financial remedies and pension.

You will be expected to:

  • Manage your own caseload of a range of family matters including but not limited to Divorce, financial applications from start to finish, including drafting legal documents and attending court hearings
  • Negotiating settlements and agreements for clients
  • Building and maintaining positive professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders
  • A good understanding of business development
  • Work towards and meeting chargeable and billing targets
  • Any prior experience with managing and mentoring a team would be advantageous.

Minimum Requirements

  • Solicitor or CILEX qualified
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting chargeable and billing targets
  • Possess business acumen and a proactive approach to networking
  • Resilient attitude with an openness to adapt to change

Secretary

We currently have a vacancy for a temporary legal secretary to join the Carlisle office.

You will preferably have experience working in the legal sector and be able to provide comprehensive support whilst undertaking a busy and varied workload, including:

  • File and diary management
  • Audio typing
  • Document production
  • General office administration

Experience of working in a solicitors firm would be an advantage, however training will be provided.

Child Care Solicitor

Carlisle Office, Full-time

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established firm of experienced Lawyers with an enviable reputation. We are seeking a specialist Child Care solicitor, preferably with panel membership, but not essential for our Family department who will undertake a caseload of public law children matters.

Job Description

Our Family department currently deals with all areas of Family Law. We act for parents in all areas of public law children matters from pre-proceedings/PLO to care proceedings. We also deal with applications under the Family Law Act, both Legal Aid and privately funded.

Our ideal candidate would have at least 3-5 years PQE with significant experience in managing a caseload primarily focused on public law children cases, alongside some private law children cases.

The candidate should have sufficient experience to work confidently and independently with minimal supervision. Additionally, the successful candidate will have good interpersonal and IT skills, and the ability to work as part of a small but friendly team.

  • Secretarial and administrative support will be available.
  • Location: Predominantly Carlisle but expected to commute between our office on West Cumbria when the need arises.
